Global Veterinary Services: Ensuring a safe, healthy, and fast gene flow

Topigs Norsvin has built a global veterinary team where each team member brings expertise and a skill set that benefit not just Topigs Norsvin, but our partners and customers too. The Global Veterinary Services team consists of three regional veterinarians, Dr. Mitch Christensen (CVO & North America), Dr. Eveline Willems (Europe, Asia and Africa), and Dr. Heloiza Irtes Nascimento (South America). Topigs Norsvin also employs over 25 local veterinarians who contribute to a strong health and biosecurity program.

The veterinary team contributes to Topigs Norsvin’s success in various ways. They develop and strengthen the health, diagnostic monitoring, and biosecurity plans of nucleus, multiplier, and boar stud farms. They provide vital support for our customers and partners.

The Global Veterinary Services team is continually working for biosecurity improvement to safeguard our farms from potential health breaks. Our goal is to ensure our customers receive the high-quality and high-health products they need for their future success.

Gene flow, the movement of genetic progress from our nucleus farms to customers around the world, is another key area where the veterinary team plays an integral role. As a global company operating in over 50 countries, we need to move a multitude of products around the world. These could be frozen semen to South Africa, boars to Mexico, or tissue samples  for genotyping to the Netherlands. All of these processes require health and regulatory oversight that involves the veterinary team.
