Meet TN Duroc breeder Tor Henrik Jule

Tor Henrik Jule has been a TN Duroc breeder for more than 20 years, contributing to the ever-accelerating genetic progress accomplished for TN Duroc throughout the last decades. He has collaborated thoroughly with Norsvin in this period and is well-respected as both a breeder and business owner. “Duroc is the only pig breed I have ever worked with”, he says. “And it’s a meaningful task”. There are currently 51 boars from Jule found in international AI studs.

Tor Henrik has seen the development of TN Duroc with his own eyes. “It’s been a tremendous journey”, he says. “Especially when it comes to breeding a more feed efficient, fast-growing terminal line”. Data from his animals show it. From 2015 until January 2023, weight at 150 days of age has increased by 21 kg for gilts. For boars tested at Norsvin Delta, weight at 150 days increased by 17.2 kg to 129.2 kg. Their daily gain during the test phase is 1265 grams.
